Routine Eye Examination Ad
This is a Youtube published advert aimed at encouraging routine eye check-ups in eye hospitals and eye clinics. It is an advert done by EyeSmart organization in association with American Academy of Ophthalmology (Eye Smart Organization 2010). The primary target audience in this advert is the population in the society which waits until they have eye problems for them to pay a visit to an eye clinic. According to the American Academy of Opthalmology, some of the eye problems such as open-angle glaucoma do not show symptoms until irreversible eye damage has occurred (Boyd and McKinney, 2017). Using deductive reasoning, it is, therefore, prudent to visit an eye clinic routinely to prevent any asymptomatic eye health problems from progressing and causing a disability.
This advert may have an enormous impact on different cohorts of consumer decision-making units. One of such influence will occur on sons and daughters who will advise their aging parents to seek eye examination more frequently than previously done. Children will also pressure their parents to be taken for eye check-up following the advert.
Finally, this advert will change consumer’s health-seeking behavior from visiting an eye clinic only when an individual is sick to visiting an eye clinic even when an individual is not ill for preventive purpose rather than the curative purposes which are frequently sorted for among people seeking medical assistance in eye hospitals.
